Virgin Comics will use uclick’s mobile comics technology to distribute mobile products featuring its characters across North America, UK, Australia and South Africa.
The first titles will be based on Virgin’s India-inspired range of epic tales such as Ramayan 3392 A.D, The Sadhu, Devi and Snake Woman. They will be made available to all operators that offer the uclick GoComics reader. These include Virgin Mobile, Cingular, Verizon and Sprint.
Larry Lieberman, CEO of Virgin Comics, said: “uclick’s widespread availability enables us to capture a larger demographic by extending our reach to audiences around the world.
“Virgin Comics is all about developing characters and stories that can easily make the jump from one form of media to another – that exist as well in comics as they grow to other media. Mobile comic book distribution through uclick is a natural next step for these versatile properties.”
Virgin Comics joins uclick’s growing list of mobile publishing partners that also includes TOKYOPOP, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many more.
