Telenor tunes in to ringbacks

Telenor has launched a ringback tone service called Ventetoner, powered by European Computer Telecoms Group (ECT).
Although it will go life first in Norway the platform has been enabled for roll out by Telenor’s 12 operating companies across Europe and Asia. The service will have WAP and SMS user interfaces for each country in its own language and currency as well as its own country-specific content.
Importantly, ECT’s technology lets third parties sell ringbacks that work on the Telenor network.
The companu says penetration increases significantly when multiple providers sell tones directly from their portals.
The customised web portal provided by ECT offers content providers an open interface for the uploading, pricing, downloading and statistical reporting of ringbacks.
