Glu to build an Empire

Glu has inked a deal with Microsoft to develop and publish Age of Empires III for mobile phones.
The global agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies that saw Glu develop and publish Project Gotham Racing Mobile, which was released earlier this year.
Age of Empires III, a real-time strategy game (RTS), has already sold 16 million copies worldwide on the PC and will make its mobile debut in 2008.
It's been a busy few weeks for Glu, which has also signed development/publishing deals with Codemasters and Sega, in addition to confirming support for Nokia's next-gen N-Gage platform.
Jill Braff, general manager of North America at Glu Mobile, said: "We’re excited to partner with Microsoft on another of their most valued brands. Age of Empires is one of the highest-rated and best-selling RTS franchises on the PC, and we look forward to working with Microsoft to replicate that success on mobile."
Sandy Ting, director of business development at Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, said: "Glu’s passion and experience with mobile games is well-known, and we’re happy to extend our relationship with Glu and see the ‘Age of Empires III’ experience made available to a new audience."
