Nokia unveils new TV phone

Nokia has introduced a new DVB-H mobile TV handset, the N77

The new device will line up alongside the N92, which launched Nokia into the TV ‘space’ last year. It’s a more conventional looking ‘candy bar’ design than its predecessor and has a dedicated TV key.

The N77 remembers the last channel watched when the phone was switched off, sets reminders to alert when a programme is starting and features a service guide for up to seven days of channel browsing. The N77 also comprises up to 2GB of memory and integrated stereo speakers and 2 megapixel camera.

Nokia expects the phone to be central to the forthcoming launch of DVB-H in Vietnam via the VTCmobile Television Company. It wll be the first DVB-H launch in Asia Pacific.

"With the Nokia N77, we are expecting an increase in the take-up of broadcast mobile TV service in Vietnam," said Mr Le Doan Quan, director of VTCmobile. "Nokia now gives subscribers more choice in the type of device they would like to own when applying for the broadcast mobile TV services in Vietnam."
