Great news for liars and cheats: Sprint has launched Moderati's Mobile Faker app in the US.
Designed to help punters to triumph over any bothersome social situation, Mobile Faker can conjure make-believe incoming calls, non-existent numbers to give out, pop culture tips, pictures of friends that don't exist and pick-up lines.
The service, which was previewed at CTIA in September, is available exclusively to Sprint Power Vision and Sprint Vision subs for $3.99 a month. It was created by San Francisco-based Moderati, which manages Sprint's ringtone and wallpaper offering.
Mobile Faker is also supported by a community element, where like minded dishonest people can scheme together. Users can volunteer to be 'InstaMates' for other people or offer advice via an accompanying website.
Cindy Lundin Mesaros, VP of marketing at Moderati, said: "Not everyone has time to read a zillion blogs, chat up record store clerks and strategize how to rid oneself from unwanted admirers. Luckily, we know people who do."
Scott Stemmermann, product manager for entertainment marketing at Sprint PCS, said: “Sprint strives to offer its customers the best mobile applications available. Mobile Faker is a very unique service and we’re pleased to be the first carrier to offer it.”
We don't think he was using Mobile Faker at the time.
