THQ Wireless has appointed Singapore-based Acme Mobile to distribute its titles across South East Asia.
The games publisher will use Acme’s 'Amob.com' distribution channel to reach a potential
160 million mobile subscribers connected to 15 carriers across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Steven Frank, THQ wireless director of business development in Asia, said: “Acme’s network provides us with an easy, reliable way to reach out to many more subscribers in the Southeast Asian market. The market has great potential and THQ Wireless thinks that Acme’s ‘Amob.com’ network is the perfect way to help accelerate our growth there.”
Paul Meyers, Acme Mobile’s CEO, is pleased with a major contract win. He said: “We are thrilled to be working with THQ Wireless to sell great brands on mobile such as Star Wars, Hello Kitty, MotoGP, Worms and other major franchise titles. THQ Wireless's games are hugely popular and a lot of fun to play.
We can’t wait to sell them throughout the region.”
“We’ve spent over four years building out ‘Amob.com,’ deploying ‘Ace’, and building our reputation as a leading distribution company in Asia. Partnering with a company like THQ Wireless confirms our belief in our vision to become the number one distribution partner in South East Asia.
Adam Comiskey, THQ Wireless Vice-President for International, added: “We were really very impressed with Acme’s ‘Ace’ provisioning platform and reporting system. It certainly one of the best we’ve seen and it gives us great confidence in working with Acme to distribute our titles.” THQ was the first major 'traditional' games publisher to commit fully to mobile, launching its own subsidiary in 2001.
