EA's The Sims 2 mobile game has surpassed one million downloads in Europe.
The milestone was reached in just seven months and will go some way to vindicating game publishing giant EA's considerable investment in the mobile sector.
The Sims 2 was made available for download across Europe through a number of operators in December 2005. EA plans to launch The Sims 2 Pets for mobile in Europe later this year.
Javier Ferreira, VP publishing Europe at EA, said: "We were confident that the universal popularity of the Sims franchise would translate well into mobile and would appeal to a new audience. Our close relationships with mobile operators across Europe have been invaluable in reaching these one million Sims fans young and old.”
EA bought specialist mobile games publisher Jamdat for $680 million in December last year.
