Qpass has launched TheContentMarket.com, an online service that enables small content providers to create their own mobile storefronts

The service is aimed squarely at amateur and semi-professional content creators, which Qpass cites as key to future growth of the mobile content industry.

Using a web interface, content providers can get services up and running in four steps: create an account, upload their content, select a mobile storefront from pre-configured designs, and promote their products direct-to-consumer across Europe and the US with a range of merchandising tools.

Qpass says TheContentMarket.com also filters content offerings for the appropriate devices and handsets, and handles content delivery, billing and age verification. No registration fee is required, though content providers need to agree a usage contract that includes a code of conduct to avoid abuses of the system.

Christian Lutz, VP of TheContentMarket.com for Qpass said: “An enormous amount of premium mobile commerce is conducted outside the top 20 per cent of content providers. However, participants in this 'long-tail' need a more efficient and inclusive content discovery and distribution solution. For the mobile content market to reach its full potential, small and medium sized content providers need access to world class storefront management and commerce capabilities.”

Qpass was recently acquired by Amdocs for $275m.
