Claims to be the country's fastest growing mobile operator.
Three UK has bagged 1.04m new customers in the past year, with 301,000 newbies arriving in Q3, which takes the network to a total of 8.8m subscribers.
In fact, Three is so pleased with the growth that it claims to be the UK’s fastest growing mobile operator. It's a stark turnaround from a few years ago when the network's signal was reported as being incredibly patchy by users.
Three attributes the surge to its smartphone focus comprising a nationwide initiative to upgrade signal strength to an 'Ultrafast network', which is set to reach more than 80 per cent of the country by April 2013. This will be enhanced further in the new year with LTE.
Dave Dyson, CEO of Three UK, said: "We have led the adoption of smartphones in the UK by giving our customers great coverage, fast speeds and compelling price plans.
"These network improvements are designed to maintain our position as the fastest growing UK mobile operator. Our Ultrafast network is giving more people in more places access to an even faster mobile internet experience."
The improved network speeds will likely be welcome to Three's users, with the average subscriber gobbling up 1.1GB of mobile data each month.
