62 per cent of Americans downloaded music during Q4.

Mobile payments normally make the majority of smartphone and tablet users  question security, but additionally consumers tend to use free services for their media.

However, the platform is becoming more used to paying for content via tablets in the US and Europe, according to Nielsen as  62 per cent of Americans downloaded music in Q4 2011.

While the US also showed a favour for books with 58 per cent and movies at 51 per cent, just one-fifth bought news content, which had the highest demand in Europe securing 44 per cent, 19 per cent and 15 per cent in Italy, the UK and Germany, respectively.

Additionally, Italians are the most likely of all European countries to buy media through their tablet.
