Korean firm's instant messaging service to do battle with BBM.
Samsung announced IM service ChatOn back in August, an app which comes as standard on its Android and bada smartphones, while it can also be downloaded for iOS.
ChatOn was based on RIM's BlackBerry Messenger, and now Samsung has turned up the heat on the ailing firm with a ChatOn for BlackBerry launch.
It's widely known that BBM is a key driver of RIM's sales, but with Samsung able to offer a universal app that provides enhanced functions, it could see the firm steal some of BlackBerry's market share.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp continues to lead for cross platform IM services with over ten million downloads for Android alone.
