O2 opens Priority Moments to small businesses

Location-based offers for butchers, bakers and flowerpot makers.

Priority Moments is the service that invites O2's 23 million UK customers to sign up for retail offers triggered when they are near to the store.

Since its launch in July 2011, it claims to have helped more than one million UK shoppers save more than £8 million through 3,400 offers from more than 300 high street brands. It recently announced a high profile partnership with Nike.

But the operator knows that there's huge potential in the long tail of retail too. It reckons independent small businesses now account for 66 per cent of all retail and leisure units in the UK.

So now it's inviting them to sign up, and create their own offers. O2 says It takes just three minutes to create and offer on Priority Moments, and once approved it can go live in a matter of hours.

In advance of the launch, O2 invited over 250 small businesses to trial the new service.

One of them, Andrea Cohen from fashion store Number 35, said: “As an independent retailer, it’s difficult for us to compete with bigger brands, so that’s why it’s great to have access to a service like Priority Moments which gives us the sort of marketing reach which is typically the preserve of multi million pound businesses.”
