Apple secures patent for 'Head-Mounted Display'

Roughly translated; Google Project Glass rival.

Google unveiled Project Glass in April, an innovative set of spectacles boasting augmented reality functions that enable the wearer to make video calls, view maps, take photos, and more.

Now Apple has bagged a patent for a 'Head-Mounted Display' which will come in a helmet, glasses or visor form, according to Wired, which will keep the battle against Google going strong.

The patent – originally filed six years ago – is designed to offer an 'enhanced viewing experience' by projecting secondary images in front of the head display user.

It sounds suspiciously like Project Glass, as does the patent Sony clinched last week.
