Unity introduces social gaming and video ads with Applifier acquisition

Applifier’s Everplay will integrate its game replay sharing and community service into the Unity development platform.

Unity Technologies has announced that it will be acquiring mobile game service provider, Applifier, which will brings Everplay and The GameAds video ad network to the cross-platform network being developed for Unity Cloud.

Applifier’s Everplay, was built to give players a place to express themselves with game replay sharing, commenting and discussions.

This gives developers an insight into what players are saying about their games and offers a unique way to acquire new users and increase retention rates.

It has community of more than six million registered mobile players, and approaching over one million new users each month with millions of shared replays from hundreds of games on iOS and Android.

David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies, said: “Unity was founded to democratise game development, and we are increasingly searching for tools that can make our community more successful.

“By welcoming Everyplay to the Unity platform, we’re arming our developers with an incredibly powerful and authentic way to connect with a rapidly growing community of passionate gamers.”

The acquisition also brings GameAds video advertising platform to Unity, meaning the company will deliver the video ad network along side its upcoming Unity Cloud cross-promotion network.

All three services will together provide mobile game debs with a number of strong ways to grow they customer base.
