Promises improved discovery and slicker design.

Microsoft is drumming up anticipation around its forthcoming Windows Phone Mango update with a series of blog posts, the latest of which focuses on the Games Hub.

It outlines improvements including a "cleaner and lighter design", and features pulled in from what was previously a separate app called Xbox Live Extras, including 3D avatars and a collection view.

The three most recent games that a user has played will now be highlighted for easy access, and the Xbox Live messaging feature has been improved, with emoticons sent in messages now reflected on the user's avatar.

From the debut of Windows Phone 7, the Games Hub has been one of the key selling points for WP smartphones, as well as a key draw for games developers. They'll be pleased that Microsoft is continuing to add new features to the gaming aspects of its mobile operating system.
