BBC iPlayer hits record 10.7m daily requests

February broke the 300 million requests barrier for the second month running.

BBC’s iPlayer – which is rapidly drawing near the 20 million app download milestone – has seen a record couple of month is requests, hitting 10.7 million daily and 70 million in a week.

This is a 15 per cent increase year-on-year driven by programmes such as Top Gear, and the final series of Outnumbered which grabbed about two million requests.

Requests from tablets is second only to computers, owning 27 per cent of total requests, where as mobile only asnwers for 18 per cent, compared to computer’s 30 per cent.

Viewers on iPlayer peak a little later than they do on TV where viewers are in their strongest numbers at 9pm, compared to iPlayer when it is just after 10pm.
