Signs licensing agreement with UK royalties body PRS for Music.

US-based Rdio currently operates in the US, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. Now it's set to expand its music streaming service as part of a new licensing agreement with PRS for Music.

It ensures that any one of the 85,000 PRS members that has their music played by Rdio across Europe – namely Germany, Spain and Portugal – will automatically receive a profit.

While the new contract looks to be part of the firm's strategy to expand in Europe beyond just three countries, both Rdio and PRS remained unclear as to when that would actually be.

This would see it follow Spotify – now worth $3.5 billion – and Deezer, which set itself a target back in December to secure a rollout into 100 new countries by this summer.

Rdio currently has over 15 million songs in its library and offers playback across web browsers and mobile devices.
