Yet-to-start Nokia CEO Stephen Elop gives cheque to Kenya's Virtual City.

Elop made a Garbo-like fleeting appearance at the Nokia World event in London to present the award.

He echoed his former Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer when he intoned 'developers developers developers' to show his enthusiasm for coders (but not with the same mania as Ballmer).

But he didn't say anything else.

No clues then about the main challenges the company faces.

Elop takes over from former CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo on Monday September 20th.

Meanwhile the winners of the Calling All Innovators contest were also confirmed. Winners got a share of £500,000, and placement on the Ovi store.

Purnima Kochikar, VP of Forum Nokia, also announced the winner of the Calling All Innovators hackathon. Developers had 36 hours to create their apps. They then had to demo them in three minutes in front of the audience and judges.

The winner here was an app that recognises a face and uses this info to unlock a phone.
