Increasing from 360,000 to 1.9 million in a year.
India has experienced a rapid growth in the smartphone and tablet market thanks to the expanding choice of products and prices opening the market for locals and other developing countries.
Tablet sales rose to around 1.9 million from 360,000 between 2012 and 2013, equating to a huge 400 per cent growth, as reported by the Manufacturers Association for Information Technology.
PCs paid the price for the increased tablet demand selling just 11.31 million units at a mere five per cent growth, with the majority of those purchasing the desktop computers being government and educational establishments.
Sales of what consumers could see as an 'outdated device' are still on the rise, even if slowly, but could it be experiencing its downfall, or is the tablet era just a phase that will die out in time?
Meanwhile, tablet sales in Southeast Asia have also experienced a massive 101 per cent increase.
