Makes the decision having discovered tablet users are more interactive than smartphone users.

Last minute travel service HotelTonight has been downloaded more than four million times across iOS and Android, with the latter version boasting 4.4 out of five stars on Google Play.

Now, in a bid to drive usage and retention, the services have now been optimised for Google's seven and ten-inch Nexus tablets running Ice Cream Sandwich and above. It comes after analysing iPad usage, which shows that the tablet users spend longer interacting with the services than smartphone app users do, accessing the platform more frequently and viewing more hotels.

Justin Schultz, lead Android engineer, HotelTonight, said: "Google’s been a great partner for us since the launch of our Android app, and we’re excited to deepen that relationship by developing this app specifically for their Nexus tablets.

"Many hours and cups of Blue Bottle went into building it in a way that preserves the beauty and simplicity of HotelTonight while adhering to Google's tablet design guidelines, and we’re thrilled with the outcome."

The mobile bookings firm is now live in ten countries, and launched in Germany and Switzerland just last month.
