100,000 handsets will be produced in Sao Paulo state.
Chinese manufacturer Huawei is to manufacture its smartphones in Brazil, telecompaper has reported.
According to Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, Huawei will manufacture 100,000 smartphones in the city of Sorocaba, Sao Paulo state. The smartphones produced in Brazil will be priced between $300-$600, estimates the Chinese firm’s CEO Veni Shone.
Furthermore, in addition to the expansion of the Sorocaba manufacturing plant, Huawei is also looking to expand its operations across the country by opening a number of new offices and stores.
The company currently has offices located in Recife, Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, as well as a production line in Manaus.
