BlackBerry also named Official Mobile Computing Partner for the team.

The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team will be using BlackBerry’s Z10 smartphones throughout the Formula One season.

BlackBerry will also serve as the Official Mobile Computing Partner for the team for the season.

Currently celebrating the launch of BlackBerry 10 in Australia, BlackBerry will work closely with the Mercedes team to incorporate its technology within the car, the drivers and the crew.

BlackBerry customers will be able to keep up with the BlackBerry Racing action at the company’s website, where they can view photo streams, race schedules and exclusive footage.

Elsewhere, it was also reported this week that Vodafone will be ending its sponsorship of Formula One team McLaren at the end of the year, following a review of its marketing strategy.

"We're immensely proud that, having been set a number of ambitious challenges by Vodafone back in 2007, together we've met or exceeded each and every one," McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh said in a statement released at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

"Our focus is on continuing to drive results for all our partners throughout the 2013 season and we look forward to making a major title partnership announcement towards the end of the year."
