Lufthansa introduced its mobile website back in 2007 and boasts 140,000 visits a day, with departures and check-ins the most popular actions. The airline has mobile apps for Android and iOS too, and has announced a new integrated push notifications feature.
The update will send app users automatic flight status alerts, making travellers aware of gate changes, delays, and so on. The company also talks up a simpler page layout and a clear design to provide a faster function overview.
The site has also been enhanced to store login details and encrypt them on the device, thus users won't need to enter the information each time.
Christian Tillmans, VP of global leisure and online sales, Lufthansa German Airlines, said: "Lufthansa stands for innovation and customer-friendly offerings. That is why we have fur-ther simplified the services apply particularly to mobile browsing - and made them even easier to understand."
Lufthansa claims to issue more than 300,000 electronic boarding passes a week, while about 1,000 ticket sales a day are via mobile.
