Google releases new Android SDK and makes unlocked HTC device available through dev programme.Google is attempting to attract more developers to its Android mobile OS by making a SIM-free version of the G1 available through its support programme.
Interested parties must first register as an Android developer ($25 one-off fee) and then pay another $399 to secure what Google is calling Android Dev Phone 1 (currently limited to one unit per developer).
The developer-only device will be available in 18 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, Japan, India, Canada, France, Taiwan, Spain, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Poland and Hungary.
Google says more counties will be added in due course.
