Will allow games studio to launch simultaneously across iOS, Android and desktops.
22cans and Marmalade – who just so happen to be on our Top 50 Mobile Innovators 2013 list – have joined forces for a new games partnership.
22cans is the UK studio that experienced incredible success with its Curiosity – What’s Inside the Cube social project, and the company will use Marmalade's cross-platform SDK to produce follow-up title, Godus.
The tools will allow Godus, which raised £500,000 as part of a Kickstarter campaign, to launch across iOS, Android and Steam (for Windows and Mac) later this year.
The game calls on users to step into the shoes of a god who must wield powers over followers, but they must believe in the player to achieve greater strength.
Meanwhile, gods (players) will battle each other by summoning the elements against each other.
Peter Molyneux, creative director, 22cans, said "At 22cans our single focus is to reinvent the God game genre. We want to live in a world where gamers can play whatever games they’re into, regardless of the device they happen to have in their pocket or on their desk. GODUS is going to be a game for everyone, and developing cross-platform using Marmalade is an important part of our vision."
Harvey Elliott, CEO, Marmalade, added: “Marmalade’s cross-platform tools will make GODUS compatible with over a billion devices worldwide, so we’re thrilled to be able to support 22cans in realising their ambitious vision for GODUS."
