Four piece employ use of AR mobile app in promo video for their new album.
Judging from recent marketing campaigns, it seems as though the music industry views augmented reality as the best means of connecting to its audience. Justin Bieber, KISS and The Rolling Stones' respective albums were coated in AR, One Direction was part of a magazine and book promo, while Devlin and Ed Sheeran released a single using the technology.
The X Factor boy band JLS is the newest in line for an AR campaign, with Sony Music enlisting Blippar to integrate the group's Evolution album with the interactive layer.
Users will be able to listen to songs by directing the Blippar app at the CD case, take pictures with their favourite JLS member, watch videos, enter competitions and more.
Justin Cross, head of Digital RCA Sony Music, said: "Engaging with the core JLS fan base was especially important on this record, their 4th studio album.
"So far the response has been fantastic on the interactions and we will look to develop this as the campaign progresses."
