The partnership with WorldPay will offer mobile payments to thousands of retailers.

Zapp and WorldPay have teamed up in a strategic partnership that aims to roll out the mobile payment solution to WorldPay’s retailers - such as McDonalds, Lidl, Superdrug and WHSmith - and the millions of consumers that use them.

The service will make transactions quicker and more convenient as well as lowering the risk of fraud and the cost of sales.

Ron Kalifa, deputy chairman of WorldPay, said: “WorldPay is focused on providing our customers with access to as many different payment types as possible.

“It’s vital for businesses in the UK to have access to a range of robust, secure and fast payment services, so mobile payments with Zapp will be another great option for our customers.”

Research has shown that there is £50 billion of abandoned checkouts in the UK today.

With mobile payments, merchants will be able to push more customers through the checkout process quicker, meaning it eventually will be able to sell more at lower cost.

The payment processing company’s flexible, secure and fast payment types, paired with Zapps mobile solutions – means retailers will now be able to offer an innovative and attractive form of checkout that could result in an increase in customers.

WorldPay was recently chosen as Metro Play’s preferred provider for payment processing, as it would offer an anti-fraud service for merchants.
