Virgin Media to ban inappropriate content underground

The tube will soon be the only thing you'll see entering dark tunnels...

When Virgin Media first announced its London Underground wi-fi initiative, people's first thoughts would have likely been directed to Facebook or work emails arriving to their mobiles.

However, porn access has been on the minds of some, so the network has appointed DNS firm Nominum to bar adult content across the 120 train stations.

Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, said: "Nominum met our ambitious and demanding timeline requirements and is delivering a high quality solution for our new wi-fi service.

"After carefully considering our options, we decided that Nominum's solution woven into our existing technology would be a successful implementation and help set us up for future applications and services."
