RIM facing questions over UK adult filter

Reports say the blocks haven't worked since the summer.

The story first emerged in the Huffington Post, which alleges that RIM had always opted out of the UK's age verification system on the basis that data on its devices routed through its own servers.

However, it was generally agreed that RIM set up adequate protection, and in a 2008 review by OFCOM, the system was found to be working well.

Now, following RIM's outages, it has been reported that BlackBerry owners are being denied protection from adult content - worrying given the popularity of BlackBerrys with teens.

A spokesman for RIM told The Daily Mail: ‘By the end of 2011, we will have a solution in place that blocks access to these sites.’
