Religious sites have three times more malware than porn sites

Android is the most targeted mobile platform.

Mobile and online security firm Symantec claims each religious website has around 115 different threats. Meanwhile, the adult market has just 25 threats per site, while just 2.4 per cent are infected.

An analyst from Symantec, said: "We hypothesise that this is because pornographic website owners already make money from the internet and, as a result, have a vested interest in keeping their sites malware-free — it’s not good for repeat business.

"It is interesting to note that websites hosting adult/pornographic content are not in the top five, but ranked 10th."

Malware rose by 81 per cent year-on-year in 2011 on 2010, while the malware types increased by 41 percent.

Additionally, mobile malware attacks continue to grow, especially on Android due to platform's open nature and use by various OEMs.
