Malware found in Android hentai apps

Promises saucy videos but supplies Trojan to steal contacts.

Android is becoming infamous for getting overwhelmed with malware attacks, and now the viruses have spread into the adult market, according to McAfee.

The security firm found a new Trojan virus in Google Play, which disguises itself as a trailer for Japan-based users that are looking for hentai – animated porn – or gaming apps.

When the apps are about to be downloaded, irregular permission requests pop up but of course, these aren't required to power the app.

The Trojan will then proceed to strip the Android device of its ID number as well as the user's phone number and contact lists, meaning access to names, numbers, emails and potentially home addresses.

The firm says that 15 apps from two developers had been discovered, though they had been downloaded by at least 70,000 times.
